Job Description:

  • Part-Time Nanny – Toddler Care
    This is an opportunity for a caregiver who enjoys building a close relationship with a toddler, supporting her development, and creating a nurturing, enriching daily routine.

    The family values a nanny who is affectionate, attentive, confident, communicative, and genuinely enjoys engaging with a young child. The ideal candidate will take initiative in planning age-appropriate activities while working collaboratively with the parents and respecting their parenting decisions.

    Schedule & Compensation
    * Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday
    * 8:30 AM–6:00 PM
    * Commitment: Ideally one year, with the potential to extend
    * Paid federal holidays
    * Two weeks of paid time off (six working days): one week selected by the nanny and one week coordinated with the family
    * Occasional weekend/date-night babysitting is welcome but not required

    About the Child & Family
    The family has one daughter, nearly 16 months old. She is friendly, social, affectionate, and loves connection and direct interaction with her caregiver.

    Both parents work a combination of remotely and in-office. When working from home, the parents have a separate workspace that is not visible or audible from the primary areas where their daughter spends her time.

    There are no pets or other regular caregivers in the home.

    Primary Responsibilities
    The nanny will be responsible for providing attentive, hands-on care throughout the day, including:
    * Diapering and toddler personal care
    * Preparing and serving meals and snacks
    * Following established nap and sleep routines
    * Reading books, singing, talking, and engaging in interactive play
    * Supervising the child closely at playgrounds and during neighborhood outings
    * Planning age-appropriate activities and experiences
    * Taking neighborhood walks and visiting nearby parks, playgrounds, libraries, museums, or music classes
    * Supporting the child’s social, emotional, language, and developmental growth
    * Providing parents with daily updates regarding meals, sleep, activities, and the child’s day
    * Cleaning up after the child, including meals and dishes
    * Light tidying related specifically to the child’s activities and messes
    * Folding the child’s laundry; laundry itself does not need to be done


    The family is vegetarian, and the child does not eat meat.

    Parenting Philosophy & Routine
    The family practices gentle, authoritative parenting. They believe in clear and consistent boundaries while communicating with their daughter in a calm, respectful, and loving manner. Physical discipline is not used.

    The family places a high value on routines. The nanny will be expected to maintain established meal, nap, and bedtime routines while communicating with the parents about any changes or concerns.

    The child currently has no screen time.

    Outings & Transportation
    The family lives in a highly walkable neighborhood with parks, playgrounds, and other activities nearby. Most outings will be on foot, and driving the child is not required. There is no vehicle provided.

    Use of public transportation, such as the subway, may be discussed as needed.

    Ideal Candidate
    The ideal nanny will be:
    * Warm, gentle, affectionate, and nurturing
    * Experienced caring for infants and toddlers
    * Engaged and comfortable providing direct, hands-on interaction
    * Knowledgeable about toddler development and age-appropriate activities
    * Proactive and creative in planning enriching experiences
    * Reliable and attentive to established routines
    * A strong and respectful communicator
    * Confident in their childcare abilities while remaining receptive to parental direction
    * Respectful of the parents’ role in decision-making
    * Comfortable documenting and communicating daily information about the child’s meals, sleep, and activities


    The family especially values a caregiver who takes genuine delight in watching a child discover her personality and develop new skills.

    Health & Safety
    * Current CPR and First Aid certification are required.
    * Emergency contacts and pediatrician information are readily available in the home.
    * Both parents are highly reachable during working hours.
    * Nanny cameras are present in the home.

    Employment Information
    This is a direct-hire position with the family. Upon accepting the direct-hire position, the caregiver will no longer be an employee of Jovie. If the caregiver would like to continue providing on-call services through Jovie, they will need to reapply under a new On-Call Care Contract.
