    Job Summary

Jovie of Iowa is seeking a reliable, engaging, and proactive After-School Nanny for a wonderful family with two active, school-aged children (7 and 11 years old). The ideal candidate is patient, energetic, and organized—someone who can manage school pickups, snack times, homework routines, and evening activity transport with ease and enthusiasm!

    Key Responsibilities & Daily Routine

School Pickup & Transport: Nanny arrives at the school car line by 3:15 PM for 3:30 PM dismissal. Safely transport both children home or to scheduled after-school activities such as soccer practice or piano lessons.

After-School Transition: Assist children with unpacking their lunchboxes, rinsing items for the dishwasher, and settling in for an after-school snack and wind-down time.

Routine & Homework Support: Guide both children through their daily homework assignments and ensure daily piano practice stays on track.

Active Engagement: Keep the kids off weekday screens by facilitating fun, hands-on activities, outdoor play like swing sets and neighborhood bike rides, and creative crafts.

Dinner Prep & Light Tidying: Help prepare simple kid-friendly dinners or heavy pre-sports snacks like mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, chopping veggies, or starting a slow cooker. Nanny will also engage the children in active cleanup, including wiping down tables and picking up toys.

    Ideal Candidate & Family Preferences

Firm Boundaries with a Warm Heart: The younger child thrives with caregivers who hold clear, firm boundaries while remaining patient, humorous, and supportive.

Calm & Proactive Problem Solver: Ability to keep things lighthearted, redirect when necessary, and recognize when a hungry child simply needs a good snack.

Safety & Allergy Conscious: Strong awareness of food allergy safety regarding tree nuts and peaches, with a logical, calm demeanor in any medical or urgent situation.

Direct & Clear Communicator: Thrives in an environment built on open, straightforward communication and collaborative scheduling.

    Jovie's Minimum Hiring Requirements

Age & Education:  Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Child Care Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience such as nannying, daycare, camps, teaching, or babysitting. Professional references are required.

References: At least 3 to 5 verifiable childcare references demonstrating safety consciousness, reliability, and strong engagement skills.

Transportation: Must possess a valid driver’s license, a reliable personal vehicle for transporting children, active auto insurance, and a clean driving record with a required DMV check.

Safety Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certifications, or a willingness to complete certification prior to start.

Background Check: Must successfully pass a comprehensive background screening including criminal record checks, sex offender registry checks, and annual risk assessment screenings.

Professionalism: Non-smoker, non-vaper, excellent communication skills, punctuality, and commitment to maintaining strong role-model habits.
