Part-Time Infant Nanny – Iowa City, IA

Position Type: Part Time

Position Location: Iowa City, IA

Office: Jovie of Des Moines

Job Description:

  • Organization: Jovie of Iowa

Position Type: Part-Time Nanny (Guaranteed Hours)

    Location: Iowa City, IA

    Schedule: 3 days per week (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM / 6:00 PM)

    Required Days: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

    Position Overview

A warm, welcoming academic family in Iowa City is seeking an attentive, caring, and reliable part-time nanny to care for their sweet 3.5-month-old infant.

The ideal candidate brings strong infant care expertise, a genuine enthusiasm for early childhood development, and a patient, gentle caregiving style. Both parents work hybrid schedules in higher education, so the nanny should be comfortable with parents being in and out of the home during the day.

    Key Responsibilities

Infant Care & Development: Provide hands-on, attentive care tailored to the baby's daily routine, including bottle feedings (breast milk), monitoring wake windows, facilitating tummy time, reading, engaging in sensory play, and going on daily neighborhood walks.

Sleep Support: Follow established nap routines (currently napping in a bassinet) and assist with gentle sleep conditioning/training as the child grows.

Child-Related Housekeeping: Assist with basic child-focused tasks during nap times, such as running the baby's bottle washer and handling baby laundry (conveniently located on the top floor near the nursery).

Pet-Friendly Care: Work comfortably in a home with two friendly cats and a dog (the dog attends daycare on most care days).

    Family Preferences & Requirements

Experience: Demonstrated experience with infant care is required. Experience or familiarity with the 1–3 year age range is highly valued, as the family seeks a long-term match for at least 1 year (or longer).

Immunization Requirements: Must be current on Tdap and MMR vaccines. An annual Influenza vaccine is preferred/requested.

Environment & Fit: Must love animals and be comfortable around cats. A respectful, proactive, and positive mindset aligns best with this academic, structured, yet welcoming household.

    Jovie General Hiring Qualifications

Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience outside of personal family care.

References: Ability to provide at least 3 strong professional childcare references.

Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to complete/update before starting).

Education & Age: Minimum 18 years of age with at least a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Background Check: Clear criminal background check, clean driving record, and social security trace.
