Job Description:
- Are you a "Mary Poppins" at heart? Do you thrive in a busy, creative household where you aren't just an employee, but a vital part of the "family village"?
Jovie of Iowa is seeking a professional caregiver for a wonderful family in the Adel/Des Moines area. This is a long-term role for someone who values structure, imaginative play, and the joy of watching children grow from newborns to students.
The Family Dynamics
You will be caring for a vibrant household of four children (ages 9, 7, 4, and 19 months), with a fifth arriving this November! The home is a screen-free, high-energy environment located on two beautiful acres of land.
The Creative Crew: The older girls love art, reading, and tumbling.
The Builders: The 4-year-old is an expert on all things trucks and tractors.
The Explorer: The 19-month-old is a sweet, curious napper who loves being read to.
Special Note: Mom will be on maternity leave from November through February. We are looking for a nanny who can "read the room"—someone who can provide seamless support and keep the older children’s routines on track while Mom focuses on the newborn.
A Day in the Life
Morning Hustle: Arrive at 7:00 AM to help get the younger crew dressed and ready for the day.
The Preschool Loop: Manage the midday transition, dropping the 4-year-old at preschool while keeping the toddler engaged.
Quiet & Productive: During nap time, you'll facilitate "Analog Hour" (quiet reading/journaling) for the older kids and help keep the home humming by rotating laundry or tidying the kitchen.
The Afternoon Surge: Navigate back-to-back school pickups at the elementary school nearby. (Note: On Fridays, the girls get out early at 1:00 PM—get ready for a fun afternoon!)
Play-Based Growth: Lead arts and crafts, outside time on the playset, and imaginative games.
What You Bring to the Table
The ideal candidate is authentic, patient, and highly empathetic. You aren't someone who sits on the sidelines; you are actively engaged in the children's world.
Key Responsibilities:
Active Engagement: Prioritizing creative and physical play over screens.
Household Support: Managing children’s dishes, tidying play areas, and assisting with kids' laundry.
Routine Reinforcement: Helping the kids stay on top of their "Mom Bucks" chore system and maintaining a consistent discipline style (warnings/timeouts).
Transportation: Safe and reliable transport for school drop-offs and pickups.
Jovie’s Professional Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum standards:
Experience: At least 2 years of professional childcare experience (nanny, daycare, or teaching).
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Safety & Health:
Must be able to pass a comprehensive background screen.
CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to get certified).
Reliability: Access to a safe, reliable vehicle and a clean driving record.
Legal: Must be 18 years or older and legally authorized to work in the US.
