Job Description:
- Jovie of Edmond is searching for an experienced, reliable, and energetic After-School Nanny for a wonderful family with three school-aged children (ages 9, 7, and 3) in the Edmond area.
The ideal candidate is highly dependable, structured, comfortable managing a small pack of children, and understands the importance of maintaining an afternoon routine. This position offers competitive compensation and guaranteed hours through the school year.
Schedule & Compensation
Guaranteed Hours: 15 hours per week, paid regardless of family travel/needs.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM.
Pay Rate: Competitive hourly wage (W-2 employee, includes employer-paid taxes and liability insurance).
The Children
We are looking for a caregiver who can connect with and nurture the unique personalities of all three children:
Oldest Child (Age 9, 4th Grade): The natural leader. Requires transportation to a local piano lesson every Wednesday. Enjoys active outside time.
Middle Child (Age 7, 2nd Grade): An introverted child with ADHD (managed with medication/therapy). Needs a calm presence and time to decompress in their room with quiet activities immediately after school.
Youngest Child (Age 3, Preschool): Needs constant, direct attention. Must be picked up promptly at 2:30 PM from their school. Currently in pull-ups; occasional assistance with changes required.
Primary Responsibilities & Expectations
This role is centered around reliable care, transportation, and routine enforcement:
1. Transportation & Routine
Timely Pickups: Execute the split school pick-up schedule, prioritizing the strict 2:30 PM pickup for the youngest child.
Enforce "The Four Things": Immediately enforce the post-school routine upon arrival home: 1) Shoes away, 2) Backpacks away, 3) Wash hands, 4) Change clothes.
Discipline: Apply a consistent, gentle-but-firm discipline strategy (2-minute time-outs).
2. Household Support
Pet Care: Must be comfortable with and friendly towards the family’s three small, older dogs. Must ensure dog gates (confining them to the kitchen/living area) are closed at all times. Must be willing to clean up occasional indoor pet accidents immediately.
Light Cleanup: End the shift by 5:30 PM having completed essential clean-up:
Vacuum the kitchen and living room area.
Load or unload the dishwasher.
Ensure all toys and items used during the shift are picked up.
Snacks: Prepare simple, age-appropriate snacks after school.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old.
A minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience (post-high school).
Reliable vehicle and a clean driving record are mandatory.
Experience and a strong comfort level working with children with ADHD is a major plus.
Commitment to the guaranteed 15-hour weekly schedule throughout the school year.
