- Jovie of Greater Kansas City is seeking a highly flexible, experienced, and compassionate caregiver to fill a unique dual role combining two essential needs:
On-Call Sitter (Daytime): Reliable availability for day shifts (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, etc.) for various families in the Kansas City area.
Specialized Nanny (Consistent Evening): Guaranteed weekly hours caring for a single, sweet 9-year-old child with autism and non-verbal communication.
This role is ideal for a professional looking for flexible daytime hours supplemented by guaranteed, consistent weekly income.
ROLE 1: ON-CALL SITTER SHIFTS (VARIOUS FAMILIES)
The On-Call Sitter service is reliable backup care for Jovie families when their primary care falls through or they need sporadic support.
Schedule: Highly flexible; shifts are offered based on your availability and client needs.
Typical Day Shift Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (8-9 hour shifts).
Ages: Infants through teenagers.
Requirements: Must be able to adapt quickly to new family dynamics, follow detailed instructions, and provide engaging, safe care for children of all ages.
ROLE 2: SPECIALIZED PART-TIME NANNY SHIFT (ONE FAMILY)
This is a consistent, weekly placement with a kind and gentle family, providing one evening of specialized care.
Location: Private residence in Shawnee, KS
Schedule: One weekday evening per week (Tuesday through Friday).
Hours: 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM (3 Guaranteed Hours).
The Child:
Age: 9 years old.
Needs: Non-verbal, autism. The child is very gentle and thrives on routine and calm engagement.
Responsibilities:
Follow established evening routines, which may include sensory play, simple meal preparation (e.g., heating up dinner), and facilitating a smooth transition toward bedtime.
Provide a calm, structured, and consistent environment.
Focus on gentle interaction and meeting the child's communication needs through established visual or tactile cues.
Maintain the safety and well-being of the child at all times.On days that the child's therapists are not available, being able to go to school with him is key. In this very rewarding role, you'll walk throguh his day with him, offering your support and guidance.
GENERAL HIRING REQUIREMENTS (MANDATORY)
Candidates for this combined role MUST meet all of the following criteria:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience, with a robust background across multiple age groups (infants through teens).
Special Needs Expertise: Proven, documented experience working with children who have special needs, particularly those on the Autism Spectrum (ASD).
Reliability: Possess reliable, insured transportation and a clean driving record. Must be punctual and committed to all scheduled shifts.
Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain immediately).
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for relaying information to parents and agency staff.
Background: Must pass an extensive background check and drug screening.
