Job Description:
- Jovie of Greater Kansas City is seeking a compassionate, high-energy, and reliable caregiver to join a wonderful family in Lenexa/Overland Park area. This role is perfect for someone who isn't just a supervisor, but a playful partner in childhood who can help a busy household run smoothly.
The Role & Schedule
We are looking for a dedicated caregiver to provide 6–8 hours of care per week (guaranteed 6 hours).
Shifts: 3–4 hours, two days per week, preferably Tuesdays & Thursdays from 12:30-4:30PM
Commitment: Through the end of 2026.
The Goal: Support a mother who is balancing health needs and a newborn by engaging the older children, reducing screen time, and helping with light household tidying.
Meet the Kids
The Adventurer (4 years): High-energy, verbal, and loves all things dinosaurs, dragons, and villains. He’s a soccer fan who loves digging for worms and playing outside. He needs someone to match his "goofy" energy and provide fun alternatives to TV.
The Creative Soul (2 years): A bit more reserved initially with some separation anxiety, but a total "sassy diva" once she warms up. She loves arts, crafts, and being read to. She requires a patient caregiver who excels at redirection and gentle engagement.
The Newest Addition (10 weeks): A sweet infant who is nursing and currently working through some reflux. She loves contact naps and needs a caregiver comfortable with upright burping and attentive infant care.
Key Responsibilities
Active Play: Lead the way in outdoor play, coloring sessions, and imaginative games to help reduce screen time for the older children.
Transition Support: Patiently assist the toddler through transitions and provide a calm, non-intimidating presence.
Infant Care: Support Mom with the newborn, including holding the baby upright after feedings and managing nap transitions.
Household Help: While the kids nap or play, lend a hand with light dishes, sweeping the floor, and general tidying to keep the home environment peaceful.
Positive Reinforcement: Follow the family’s unique and creative discipline styles (like "toy timeouts") to maintain consistency.
The Ideal Candidate
Outgoing & Energetic: You are naturally "goofy," fun, and ready to jump into a world of monsters and dinosaurs.
Gentle & Patient: You understand that building trust with a reserved child takes time and a soft touch.
Proactive Helper: You see a full sink or a messy floor and jump in to help without being asked.
Experienced: You have a background in childcare centers, schools, or professional nannying.
Minimum Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of verifiable childcare experience (infant experience required).
Health & Safety: Must have (or be willing to get) an updated T-dap booster and remain certified in CPR/FA
Transportation: Reliable vehicle and a clean driving record.
Vetting: Must pass a comprehensive background screen.
Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and a heart for building deep, meaningful professional relationships.
