About the job:

We are seeking an experienced nanny for our autistic 7-year-old son in Danville. He is very smart and exuberant. He is verbal (a bit delayed in speech), indeed he functions at a pretty high volume, but interestingly he is sensitive to loud outside noises. He has several stims that he employs (verbal ones, chewing necklaces, shredding Kleenex for instance). He does get frustrated sometimes, which might require a patient caregiver response. He loves to chatter about his latest loves, which right now are rockets (real and concepts), and facts around those like where they launch from, what their purposes are, etc.

We are seeking someone who is patient and ready/willing to help us through some neurodiverse (autism-related) behaviors. We absolutely do not claim to be experts, and we are learning every day. We're hoping this person has some direct experience with neurodiverse kids and hopefully we can learn from each other.

A bit about you:

You love to engage with children. You live in the Danville area, drive and have a reliable vehicle. You have years of experience in providing 1-on-1 care for children who are on the spectrum. You have references that can vouch for your skills. Your comforting presence will assist with naps, feeding time and playful learning activities.

Job duties:

Assistance with meals and snacks is a must. Some light housework may occur as well; cleaning up after feeding time, putting aways toys, folding clothes while he is napping, etc.

Position highlights: Competitive pay. Guaranteed hours.

Qualifications:

You’re an active person who can be a good role model. You are kind, patient, caring and fully vaccinated as well as boosted. You are reliable and timely.

Set yourself apart: You enjoy spending time with children who are on the spectrum and can actively engage him in playful learning activities.

Schedule:

Care starts as soon as possible. Schedule is as follows:

Monday thru Friday: 9:00am-2:00pm

Pay range: $22.00 - $25.00 DOE

• All applicants must first interview with a Jovie specialist. Qualifying applicants will meet with the family prior to being hired.

• Please note that during this time of COVID-19, Jovie expects all employees to follow CDC guidelines and ensure the best hygiene practices when working and in their personal time. This family is following these recommended guidelines cautiously and conservatively and expect the caregiver to do the same to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible.
